Vectrex - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vectrex Game Database great source of games and screenshots
The Vectrex is unique in that it utilized vector graphics drawn on a monitor that was integrated in the console; no other console before or after the Vectrex had a comparable configuration, and no other non-portable game console had a monitor of its own (integrated).
Entitled "MineStorm II", it was the fixed version of the Vectrex's built in game.

 ClassicGaming.com - The Museum: Vectrex
Vectrex games are available in The Vault's Vectrex Roms section.
Foremost among these Vectrex programmers is John Dondzila, whose first ever contribution to classic console gaming was the 1996 Vectrex game Vector Vaders.
The Vectrex wasn't just your average game console, however, and even to this day there has never been a videogame system quite like it.

VECTREX - pearl among the game consoles
The Vectrex owed its name to the vector technique that was used in the arcades (for instance in Asteroids and Space War), but until then not yet in game consoles.
Among the game consoles the appearance of the Vectrex was unique: an elongated monitor that was hidden about three inches deep in an arcade-like, black case.
An important pro GCE and MB stressed in their commercials was that the Vectrex had its own monitor, so that unlike when using other game consoles, the television didn't need to be annexed.

A Vectrex Case goes for over $162
Of course if the games include the original overlays (for those not familiar, the Vectrex games used overlays for each game that went over the screen and added playfield graphics or game directions - just like many arcade games of the time did), they're worth more as well.
On ebay you probably get in the $30-$40 range, more if there's games included such as a loose Vectrex with 2 games that recently went for around $50.
It's not uncommon for Vectrex peripherals/etc. to go for far more than the console itself.

However, this limitation in video game color was reduced via thin (though durable) sheets of colored, clear plastic, which you would place on the slots in front of the monitor, "coloring" the screen appropriately for that game.

How to create a Vectrex overlay
Keep in mind that many Vectrexes are adjusted slightly differently, so the spot that you think the high score will be may be a bit different from where the score is on a different Vectrex.
Any area of the overlay that you want the game player to see as an image instead of a color filter for the display must have white painted on the back side of the overlay.
The most important is that a printed transperancy has no thickness, and will not stand up on the vectrex very well.
