The Legend of Zelda series races - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Obviously feminine-looking Gorons have been known to appear in the Legend of Zelda manga, but the manga are considered non-canonical.
It is implied in the game that they are the descendants of the Zora race, as one Rito, Medli, tells Link that the Rito were once without wings, and it is also revealed in the game that she is a descendant of the Zora sage Laruto.
The Rito may be inspired by the Watarara race in one of the Zelda mangas (generally considered not to be canon).

The Legend of Zelda series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The second game, known as Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (in defiance of the naming convention for the other games, although in Japan it is called The Legend of Zelda 2), was a departure from the concept of the first game.
The first game, The Legend of Zelda appears relatively crude and simple by today's standards, but it was a very advanced game for its time.
Miyamoto has referred to the creation of the Zelda games as an attempt to bring to life a "miniature garden" for players to play with in every version of the game.

RPGamer > Retroview > The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time
New to the series is the fabled Z-targeting system, where the player uses the Z button to lock onto an enemy to have better aim against it in battle.
The pacing is somewhat sluggish, although the game reveals the origins of the Triforce alongside some other backstory and a new take on the Zoras, not to mention other races, and is in the end one of the better plots of the franchise, not to mention very few N64 RPGs, for that matter.
Many bosses, like in the other Zeldas, require some element of strategy to defeat, but here, the camera and targeting system can really make them much harder than they need to be.

So, this is my take on the whole thing, as told by the games published/overseen by Nintendo.
The only time I will change any part of this is if a new game comes out that contradicts what I've written, someone lets me know of an existing discrempency between released games and the story, or I decide to change an existing part to make something new work.

IGN: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages Review
The story elements are pretty standard for a Zelda game, but this is more nostalgic than bothersome.
Not only do the games capture everything that makes Zelda great, they are just right in terms of difficulty, game length and compatibility.
As with every Zelda adventure, you'll see puzzles and objects early in the game that are inaccessible.

RPGamer > Retroview > The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
Oracle of Ages, more or less, is a rehash of concepts from the other Zeldas, what with things such as two worlds to explore (and time travel certainly won't win points for originality), the two-tool battle system returning from Link's Awakening, albeit with a few different tools, and so forth.
As with before, though, combat in cramped quarters can be a bit tedious, although bosses still require the same degree of strategy as they do in the other Zeldas, and overall, combat works out nicely.
Another difference from Link's Awakening is that the player can find various rings across the world to be appraised at a special shop and which Link can equip, one at a time, for effects such as protection from electric damage.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Nintendo
The battle sounds are a little different, as when you score a hit, instead of a “ching!” or a “thwack!” there are now notes that are played on an instrument when you hit (I’m not sure which one, but I’m pretty sure that it’s a string instrument).
The sound in the game is another great feature.
This makes the combat system more interesting than other games, and separates it a bit from the rest.

Link starts collecting floating rupees atop barrels, unfurling his sail to gain control, and leaping from the water to jump bobbing barrels in different trajectories.

While other contemporary games featured better graphics, more game modes or more content, Death Rally has all elements perfectly balanced, which results in a fun (yet somewhat short) top-down driving-shooter, kind of a mix between Badlands and Micro Machines.
