Super Mario Bros. - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Super Mario Bros. was one of the best-selling of these rereleases; according to the NPD Group (which tracks game sales in North America), this re-released version of Super Mario Bros. was the best-selling Game Boy Advance game in June 2004, and the GBA's sixth-best-selling game overall.
Super Mario Bros. is one of the NES games featured in the Gamecube game Animal Crossing.
Super Mario Bros. was most often packaged with the console (usually in a dual cartridge with the shooting game Duck Hunt), just as Tetris was packaged with the Game Boy.

Super Mario Bros. (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Super Mario Bros. is a 1993 movie very loosely based on the popular video game of the same name.
Mario also has a girlfriend called Daniella in Manhattan, who is believed to be based off Pauline, the first girlfriend Mario had in the first Donkey Kong game for arcades, because both of them are regular women instead of princesses.
Fans denounced the movie for having very little to do with the video game series and distorting many known facts about the fictional game world; for instance, in the movie King Koopa is a humanoid descendant of a dinosaur, whereas he is no such thing in the games.

Super Mario - Info, Tricks, Cheats, Walkthroughs, & Links
Mario first appeared in the video game Donkey Kong as a nameless protagonist, but later was called Jumpman.
Mario games specifically lack overly-complicated plots or too much character development as to not limit Mario's future roles.
In 1996, with the release of the Nintendo 64, Super Mario 64 marked Mario's 3D debut and made him the very first 2D established video game character to appear in a full 3-D game.

Mutant Reviewers from Hell do "Super Mario Bros."
Mario's place in video game history is notable because SMB established and cemented many rules of the sidescrolling "action platform" game (where characters go left and right, crossing obstacles and defeating enemies).
Mario's first appearance in a video game was in 1981's Donkey Kong (where Mario was just called "Jumpman").
I mean, the whole point of making such a film is to capitalize off the popular success of the game, but somewhere in the process, I think Hollywood becomes convinced that all games actually suck and they can do it better by changing everything.

X-Entertainment - Super Mario Bros. Movie Review In Another Castle.
If someone made a film more literally based on the games, chances are it'd be one of the strangest motion pictures ever.
You can rail on the film all you want, but after seeing the immensely detailed sets where ten trillion things are always going on at once, you can't argue that they weren't trying.
Time heals all wounds, and the bittersweet punch of being thrown a Super Mario movie that had little to do with Super Mario is a lot softer now than it was back in '93.

So, while a rubbish film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie might be worth watching for the Mario fan, just to see the references to the games.
I think the Super Mario Bros movie would of been way better if they had the actors of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show play the characters and I don't really see John Leguizamo playing Luigi (He didn't even have a mustache) or Bob Hoskins playing Mario (his mustache wasn't the right shape).
That said though, it was chock-full of little nods to the games.

Super Mario Brothers by Nintendo - All the Super Mario Games and Books are Here! Gamecube Super Mario Brothers
Mario's got the moves with graduated speeds of running and walking, jumps, super jumps, bounce attacks, swimming, and more.
All Mario can do is jump (and shoot fireballs with the right power- ups), but it is amazing to see how much gameplay can be squeezed from these simple actions when the controls work in direct harmony with a player's thoughts.
The only element of this game that could have been better is that the Game Boy Color's screen isn't quite large enough to show the entire layout of the original game screen, so players may occasionally need to press up and down on the control pad to see some offscreen action.

So Mario and Luigi are on hand when Daisy is kidnapped by two henchmen, Iggy and Spike (where would a bad children’s movie be without the two inept, bungling henchmen?).
I should admit, though, that I still think the three or so cartoon adaptations of the games, one of which was hosted by a live-action Mario and Luigi, did a fine job of using the material, but it’s a long way from a twenty-minute cartoon to a two-hour live-action movie.
