 Review: Starfox Assault (Gamecube)
Starfox and the gang then spend the rest of the game in a heated battle to avoid being assimilated.
To clarify my point, the original Starfox was so difficult, as many games of its time were, because it was not only a test of your skill, but also of your endurance.
In the old Starfox games, there were some stages that were considered to be harder than others, and existed along multiple paths through the game as I mentioned earlier.

I used to play that one all the time.

Starfox Adventures Review - Just Adventure +
While Starfox Adventure does incorporate some of the arcade shooting sequences of the old game, they are far removed from the crux of the game.
Starfox Adventures, while sporting some action sequences, is a beautiful adventure game for the Gamecube.
I never could play the other Starfox games very well, but the shooting sequences in this game were all pretty easy.

 lunabean.com - Nintendo - GameCube - Starfox Adventures
Overall, "Starfox Adventures" is an great game that will provide you with hours of great gameplay (I think it's the longest GCN game to date, with about 25 hours of gameplay).
However, this time, Fox's ship has been grounded (for the vast majority of the game) and, for the first time, he is the star of his very own Action/RPG game.
You play through 99% of the game as Fox McCloud, star of the flying/shooting "Starfox" series.

Gaming Illustrated - Starfox Adventures review
Starfox Adventures is not all bad, it is reasonably entertaining, it is just so, so simple…it deserves to be so much better as the raw materials for a good game are there.
If you have played the Zelda games on the N64 then you have effectively played Starfox Adventures too as the play mechanics are practically identical…you have an auto-jump, there is a similar 'lock-on' combat system, you can pick up and throw pots e.t.c.
Unfortunately it was chosen as my most over-hyped game of the year…but forget all of that as I have to do the review, pretend I didn't say anything and lets start again.

So as you can see, SA:DP will be one monster of a realistic game and a great start to Rare's life on the Gamecube.

Kikizo Games: GameCube Review: Star Fox Assault
StarFox 64 was a game on primitive hardware compared to the Gamecube and yet it's cinematic presentation make it a more impressive game than this sequel made eight years later.
The land missions are a further step down the ladder, they lack any polish that is present in the air/space missions and while perhaps they are an attempt at bringing something a little new to the franchise they still feel stuck on to the rest of the game.
The ground missions as always are a different story, StarFox Adventures although to be fair one of the most impressive looking games this generation, from a very talented developer, is infinity more visually pleasing than 'Assault.

Although Krystal does try to be that person, it's not her picture on the game box and so she falls victim to a hidden evil.
Although this is a Nintendo franchise -- and Rare has done an excellent job of staying true to the personalities of Fox, Slippy, Peppy, and the rest of the StarFox cast -- they've used their same brand of silliness, cynicism, and irony in filling out the rest of the game's characters.

Starfox Adventures for NGC video game review and cheats
Starfox Adventures, unlike previous Starfox games, is a third person shooter that takes place mainly on a planet inhabited by intelligent dinosaurs.
With Nintendo only now releasing their juggernaut games many have been waiting to receive for over a year, this one is a step in the right direction and worth waiting for.
Although it stretches the Starfox license, once the game begins, you’ll hardly notice and the game’s length will keep you busy for some time.

Eurogamer Shop - Starfox Adventures on GameCube
All that said though, Starfox Adventures is not a game without redeeming features, as you must have guessed from the score.
There's no doubt that Starfox Adventures isn't all it could have been, and it's somewhat disappointing that it lifts so much of its gameplay from Zelda 64, but I still found it to be fun.
Unfortunately, the game is so heavily weighted in favour of the third person adventure sections that you often forget that it exists at all, and the game is structured such that these flying sections are merely brief rewards for your having beaten off the latest chunk of planet and recovered another Krozoa Spirit.
