After programming ports of Tower Toppler on the Apple II and the Might and Magic, he moved again, to Softdisk.
John another one of the four founding partners of id. He began programming at 12 eventually taking a job at Origin software, then moving from there to Inside-out Software.

Softdisk acted as a game publisher, and paid authors for their work.
Softdisk was a publisher of "disk magazines" -- magazines distributed on disk, with programs, interviews, advertisements, etc. They were very popular from the 1980s until the mid 1990s, when the World Wide Web explosion changed the computer into a true consumer device.

I realized that I needed to learn details about what happened in the Apple II world between 1994 and 2002 in order to 1) look less stupid, and 2) find out about the final fates of GEnie, II Alive magazine, Softdisk G-S, and others in the time I had been away.
There's no announced release date for the latter yet, but we have a license from Softdisk to publish such a product.
I rejoined the band again in June of last year with my participation in the A2Central.com (Syndicomm) forums, themselves an accurate re-creation of GEnie in its heyday.

The 1988 Apple II original came with a magazine called Uptime.
A graphically enhanced version called Double Dangerous Dave was released for the Apple II and published by Softdisk.
It's ironic that people would often rag on it for ripping off Mario, when Dave sported a jet pack and a gun 13 years before Mario did.

Softdisk -- I was involved in some way with this software publisher turned ISP for a major part of its long history, beginning when I became a charter subscriber to their first product, a monthly magazine on disk for the Apple II computer, in September, 1981.
I was a frequent contributor to the Apple diskmagazine (or "magazette" as they called it then) in its early years, then got a summer job there in 1984 to help them launch their Commodore 64 product
However, at the turn of the non-purist millennium (January 2000, not 2001) I finally left them for good to take my present job.
