Ravenloft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ravenloft is a campaign setting for the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game.
Although their machinations are often directly responsible for the misery of many of Ravenloft's inhabitants, they also appear to play a role as dispenser of justice.
The magical mists of Ravenloft could appear anywhere in the Dungeons and Dragons universe, drawing evil-doers (or player characters) into the Ravenloft setting.

It is our experience that knowledge of the world is a way to build your roleplay and your character in detail, which will most definitely enhance the roleplay experience of players, both from interaction with the setting, as well as interaction with other players.
On the other hand, the setting has such a rich history that you can also make a character that was born in Ravenloft.
So yes, a lot of pre-planning has gone into Ravenloft PotM before the grand opening this Halloween.

Ron's Ravenloft Page - Home of the Twilight's Children Campaign Journal
This site was made (in Vim) primarily to keep track of what happened in each session because we don't play that often, and it's good to remember details so the DM can use them against the players when they least expect it.
Inspiration has also been drawn from the netbooks and message boards at www.kargatane.com and www.fraternityofshadows.com and the Ravenloft Mailing List at www.wizards.com.
The name Twilight's Children was chosen because the three starting players each coincidentally came up with a character concept that included at least one mysterious (and dead) parent or mentor.

04-26-02 06:54 AM As I mentioned in a couple of other threads, if I were running a Cthulhu game, I'd use the Fear/Horror/Madness rules from Ravenloft for short-term effects and the rules in the Book of Broken Dreams supplement (from Netherland Games) for longterm sanity effects.
As others have mentioned, the original concept was to draw a "normal" DandD party into the gothic world of Ravenloft and have them cope with the horror elements: ambiguous divinations that don't reveal alignment, curses that don't get removed with a simple spell, undead far more powerful than normal, etc.
