Q*bert - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A board game and a card game were also created.
Q*bert was also featured in the cartoon Saturday Supercade, though it has few similarities to the games.
Q*bert's simple gameplay and controls (one joystick, no buttons) made the game a hit among all age groups.

Finally, the original Q*Bert is included in the game.
For the three of you who have never played Q*Bert, the game is based on a simple, yet effective puzzler premise (in fact, some say it's the grand daddy of the addictive puzzle game).
Two Q*Berts are placed on the game board, each having the objective of coloring every block on the screen.

 fUSION Anomaly. Q*Bert
Q*Bert's primary nemesis is Coily, a mind-bogglingly stupid snake who hatches from a large purple ball which falls onto the pyramid and bounces to the bottom row of squares during every round of play.
Q*Bert can stop them by hopping onto them, but in the higher levels of play, attempting this can actually make matters worse, as it may force Q*Bert to change cubes of the right color back to the wrong one as he pursues these two gremlins across the playfield.
Within a dozen or so games, we were getting scores of around 19000 (we lost the last Q*bert on the first board of the second level each time).

Q*bert had a girl, Q*dina (you can tell she's a girl because she's got a bow), a powerless, frustrated enemy named Q*dirk, and a big cube land to hop around in and show off the enigmatic protrusion that must be the source of his power and charm (yeah, just go on thinking it's a nose).
Q*bert was a good game twenty years ago, and in some ways this version is even better.
Q*Bert can get little power-ups like speed up or invulnerability, which requires the player to press the A button if they want to use them.

Q*bert has always held a strange allure for me. I actually never played it too much nor was I very good at it, but as a young programmer (I was about 13 in '82) I was intrigued by its simple and unique gameplay and amazing graphics.
In the spring of 2000 I released a freeware Gameboy Color ROM, that was an identical clone of the old Q*bert arcade game.
I eventually learned the name of the individual whose discovery of my freeware ROM sent me on my wild adventure: Eric Kinkead at Game Titan.

When Q*bert hops on a cube, its top changes color, so Q*bert invented a little game: he loves to go from pyramid to pyramid, changing all the cube tops in each pyramid to another color.
One thing that will immediately seem odd to you is Q*Bert's controls: It's kind of hard to get used to moving around on the pyramid, and you'll no doubt fall off many times before you get the hang of it.

 ATPM 7.11 - Review: Q*bert
MacSoft’s Q*bert is an entertaining game that’s true to the original, and it adds the option of a great variety of play fields on which to test your skills.
It may be worth noting here that one player uses the number pad and the other uses the A, S, Z, and X keys; the difference in the relative positioning of the keys may be a disadvantage to the latter player.
In Head-to-Head (which is different from the two-player option in the “Classic” mode), Q*bert competes with his blue twin, Q*dirk, trying to traverse all the squares on his side of the play field before his opponent.

Q*Bert was a challenge to translate to home video game screens, with its vaguely 3-D playing field and vivid colors, as well as the character animations.
Because of the complexity of achieving this, Q*Bert's Qubes did not require players to complete the entire playing field, opting instead for Tic-Tac-Toe style lineups of a single row.
