Topic: Pokemon Stadium 2

 Review - Pokemon Stadium 2 /// Eurogamer
The Stadium games are extremely repetitive, asking you to basically take various Pokemon through fights against other Pokemon with different strengths and weaknesses, all in pursuit of various cups, prizes and the like.
As much as I enjoy the various products of the Pokemon franchise, this is one of those games where you do the same thing over and over and over again, probably just to get the chance to do it once more.
There are plenty of these to go through, so if you do buy Stadium 2 you might want to pace yourself and save a few for the next time you get really sick of turn-based fighting (it happens).

 IGN: Pokemon Stadium 2 Review
Stadium 2, like its predecessor, is about excruciatingly-planned strategy.
It is fun to play the Game Boy game on your television (via the Game Boy Tower feature), and you can always refer to the Pokemon Academy if you have questions about the game as you're going.
There are so many options and so much to do in Pokemon Stadium 2 that I couldn't rightly give gameplay a lower score.

 Pokémon Stadium 2 - GameCritics.com
Make sure you already own a large group of diverse Pokémon at various levels or be willing to go back to the Game Boy titles to retrain your Pokémon to qualify for some of the game's tournaments.
The second reason I rated Stadium 2 higher was that the Pokémon organizer's features proved much more useful on this go around.
I was expecting something more of a stand-alone title and wasnt prepared to have to train all kinds of different Pokémon at various levels to enter into the various tournaments.

The difference between PS 1 and PS 2 is that PS 1 only came with 40 or so Pokemon ready for use, and I believe that you had to upload the rest with the included GB pack, but I'm not sure.
I don't have the GB pack or Japanese Pokemon for the Game Boy, so I can't verify this, but if someone out there can, I'd greatly appreciate it.
This seems natural to me, but I now wonder why there are parts of the game where you can play with only level 50 Pokemon, or only level 25 or 30 Pokemon.

Although Pokémon Stadium 2 does have all 150 Pokémon at your fingertips to do battle with, each Pokémon may not have the attack or defense moves the player prefers.
With Stadium Battle mode, the player can choose to participate against a vast number of opponents in a number of different tournaments.
Pokémon Stadium 2 holds a lot more playability than its predecessor does as it involves four battle modes, a mini game mode, and two non-battle modes.

Players who will be selecting rental Pokemon will select their team of 6 at the tournament but before competition begins, and that same team of 6 Pokemon must be used for every round.
Thus, the outcome of the competition will not only be determined by your combating skills in the Stadium 2, but by how well you train your Pokemon and prepare them for the tournament.
This way, players must choose their team wisely, and select a team of Pokemon that will be formidable fighters against any kind of attack.

Watch some gameplay from some of the mini-games available in this Pokemon game.
The Pok& available in Stadium 2 are rendered in full color 3D and tout plenty of over-the-top attacks that sport colorful graphical effects.
The majority of the action takes place in White City, where most of the game modes are available, although those of you pressed for time can choose to compete immediately in a level-40 battle using random Pok& or in an event battle, which is suited to head-to-head competition.

This a relief for people playing the Game Boy games, expecially Red and Blue, where your Pokemon look so pixelated you can barely tell who they are.
In Stadium 2, it is always easy to tell what you and your opponents have out.
On the other hand, the computer's Pokemon seem to be unaffected by status changing attacks, and can nearly always pull through and score yet another KO.

With the Game Boy Adapter for the N64, you can transport your Pokemon data from any primary or metal colored Pokemon GB game into the N64 for battles and utility functions.
Herein, pure strategy will be demanded of you, requiring you to know the ins and outs of all your Pokemon - what attack will work best for which opponent, what items you should use, etc. The back and forth, checks and balance nature of Pokemon battles can be fun to the initiated.
