Phantasy Star II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Phantasy Star II (Japanese: ファンタシースター II) is a role-playing game released in 1989 for the Sega Genesis, and later in two different compilations for the Sega Saturn and Game Boy Advance named Phantasy Star Collection.
Phantasy Star II for these reasons, and other reasons as well such as the futuristic setting and openly homosexual character (albeit in Japan only), that the game is considered a highly influential classic far ahead of its time.
The Japanese title of Phantasy Star II literally translates to, “Phantasy Star II: At the End of the Restoration.” The Japanese subtitle is reportedly also a phrase which can mean, “At the end of the time which can never be Returned to.” The subtitle was dropped for the US version of the game.

Phantasy Star Online - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Despite the 'online' in the title, all games in the Phantasy Star Online series except Blue Burst may be played offline, allowing the player to develop their character between online sessions.
A team may play the normal game while able to attack allies (as well as monsters) to create their rules, or they may play one of several predefined sets of battle rules.
Episode IV is notable for being significantly more difficult than the other chapters of the Phantasy Star Online game.

Phantasy Star Online is the first online role-playing game for a video game console.
Begun on the Sega Master System, the Phantasy Star series expanded to four epic games across the Sega Genesis, and now the classic is back on the Dreamcast.
For the online mode, you and up to three other players can join in the adventure by playing through the game co-operatively.

 Phantasy Star Collection - GameCritics.com
The Phantasy Star games are classic RPGs (yes, even the third onewhich everyone seems to hate), and they deserved at least a little updating.
In this regard, Phantasy Star was relatively ahead of the curve for what was being done in these games.
Part of this is due to flaws in the game design (there's a certain element of cheapness in a lot of the bosses in these early RPGs—they're really overpowered) and the other part of it is that games have just gotten easier in the intervening years.

Two of the dungeon themes in the game were remixed from the original Phantasy Star, which is interesting and refreshing if you've played the first game.
When all's said and done, Phantasy Star: The End Of The Millennium is a somewhat easy game that relies more heavily on its characters and plot than the need to level constantly to move the story along.
After beating the game, a hidden sound test mode option can be opened by pressing the B button from the title screen, though the titles of the songs are barely translated from the original japanese and can be somewhat confusing.

 Phantasy Star - Re-Retroview
Phantasy Star, as a few know, has the distinct honor of being the very first console role-playing game to be released in the United States, on Sega’s old 8-bit Master System in 1988.
Finally, the game’s difficulty remained consistent throughout the game, being neither too difficult or too hard, and the title is surprisingly short, at that, only requiring up to fifteen hours to complete, making it possible to beat in one sitting.
While it didn’t have this status in Japan, what with a few other RPGs such as Dragon Quest already having been released over there, the very first Phantasy Star game was definitely revolutionary for its time.

Phantasy Star Collection (Gameboy Advance) Review at RewiredMind.com
Phantasy Star 2 ups the difficulty level a notch further, and the dungeons will have you weeping at points, but in both games you always manage to make it through and progression is possibly more rewarding because of it.
Battles in the first game, for instance, are a constant struggle between life and death, so you need to get a grip on the tactics very quickly if you’re going to progress.
It’s no surprise then that SEGA have seen fit to port the first three titles from the series to Nintendo’s GBA, as it was always going to get Phantasy Star Phanboys (sorry!) salivating at the prospect.
