Nintendo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Additionally, the Nintendo DS can play Game Boy Advance games, but it cannot play any other of the earlier Game Boy games.
Nintendo (Japanese: 任天堂, ニンテンドー Nintendō; NASDAQ: NTDOY, TYO: 7974) is an international company originally founded in Japan on November 6, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi to produce handmade hanafuda cards, for use in a Japanese playing card game of the same name.
Nintendo at this time saw how successful video games were, and began to dabble in them; they created several arcade video games (such as Radarscope) and five dedicated home console video games.

Nintendo never allowed this code to be used in shipping games.
In the end, the game was more feature-filled than the PC version (quite a feat) and unsurprisingly, was one of the most advanced games for Nintendo 64.
Most Nintendo 64 games were actually fillrate limited, not geometry limited, which is ironic considering the great concern for Nintendo 64's low ~100,000 polygon per second rating during its time.

The data can then be used in a 64DD game.
To understand better how the 64DD will work with the N64, it is necessary to take a look at how the drive influences the way game developers make games.
According to Nintendo, game data that has been "collected" on the Game Boy (this could be anything from Pokemon creatures to photos snapped with the camera) can then easily be transferred to the 64DD or uploaded to Randnet (Nintendo's online service) -- and vice versa.

The 64DD was announced at 1995's Nintendo Shoshinkai game show event (now called Spaceworld).
It allowed players to chat, read and write email, and was a gateway to play multiplayer games for the N64DD over the Internet.
The Nintendo 64DD had several games announced for it that ended up either cancelled or being released on cartridge format only, the following is a list of those games.

The big idea behind the 64DD was that extra levels could be made available for popular games, and enormous games wouldn't fit on a cartridge would be published on the 64DD.
If you really want a 64DD, rumour has it that Nintendo's manufactured 10,000 of them, and that they'll go on sale in Japan; you might be able to import one, goodness knows why.
Right now Nintendo is losing its market share, and if the Dreamcast fails to compete with the new PlayStation, Sega will go after what's left.

The problem Nintendo faced with its add-on device, though, was that it was still 1) too expensive to mass-market, 2) it didn't up the power of N64, 3) only a handful of games used its benefits and 4) it only had a handful of games — period.
Nintendo GameCube, on the other hand, uses proprietary 1.5GB Optical Discs — more than twice the size of standard CDs — as its primary game medium; it has its own real-time clock; and virtually every game will support external SD Card media for saves and customizations.
However, with GameCube and SD Card media, console gaming could be improved greatly, especially so far as interaction between the player and game goes.
