Metal Gear - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Metal Gear franchise made a comeback in the form of Metal Gear Solid for the Sony PlayStation, adapting the basic premise and gameplay of the first two games in 3D.
The game was one of the first games, if not the first, in which using stealth was emphasized over direct confrontation with the enemy.
The games take place in near future scenarios (with the exception of one game) and focus on stealth and finesse rather than brute-force combat.

Metal Gear Solid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This theme was previously featured in the game's trailers, and also set the style for later Metal Gear games.
While his work in Metal Gear Solid was accurate to the original Japanese script, many of the lines in the games were Americanized by Blaustein.
One of the most drastic differences between the original script and Blaustein's was the fact that Mei Ling only quoted Chinese proverbs in the Japanese version, whereas in the English script, she also quoted from western authors and literature.

 Metal Gear (NES/MSX)
Metal Gear was a departure from the typical video gaming of the day, to be sure.
Metal Gear introduced the idea of stealth to a video game audience more accustomed to obliterating everything in sight.
Combined with the twisting plot, the stealth aspects made Metal Gear one of the most original action-adventure games of the time.

 BBC - h2g2 - Metal Gear (MSX) 1987
Metal Gear was the first game to introduce the concept of Sneaking over Fighting.
It had some special parts to it, but it wasn't the best Metal Gear game there is. I found little dialogue, and a lack of plot twists (Okay, there was the big one at the end, but what else?).
What a handful of people DON'T know is that "Metal Gear" was actually the 1st game in the series.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - PS2 Review
Last winter Metal Gear Solid 2 was shipping to the U.S. Normally this wouldn't be such a big thing, except for the fact that Konami is a Japanese company and the game hadn't come out in Japan yet.
This is the BEST version of Metal Gear Solid 2 you can buy, so if you didn't play through the game yet, well, go get this one.
In any case, if you bought The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2, there's a good chance you're going to really, really dig the stuff they threw in, especially if they keep the US version the same as the Japanese version, and unlock everything with the Document save file.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for PlayStation 2 Review - PlayStation 2 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Review
Consequently, the mechanics of Metal Gear Solid 3 can be just as confounding as the storyline--but also just as rewarding, especially once you reach some of the game's memorable, dramatic confrontations.
There's much that needs to be said about Metal Gear Solid 3's story, mostly because it's such a huge part of the game.
After all, during the course of the game, you'll experience a story dense with detail and intrigue, one that's often presented using some of the most dramatically staged video game cutscenes to date.

Amazon.com: Computer & Video Games: Metal Gear Solid
I look forward to picking up Metal Gear Solid 2 because of how great this game is. I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes action games, stealth games, role playing games, and anything else along the line.
The PC version of Metal Gear is just as good as you'd expect a PlayStation-to-PC port of an awesome game to be, with few of the drawbacks.
The graphics don't look great, the gameplay has vastly improved in later iterations of this series, and replay value is lacking because this game doesn't get much harder.

Metal Gear Solid cheat codes for playstation
Those older games have got some pretty damn good songs, too bad I only ever played the NES version of Metal Gear (it seems like no music from the MSX version was in the NES version, and this music collection is from the MSX games).
It contains info on the guys who made the game, the earlier Metal Gear games, characters, music and a slew of other stuff.
Like the logo states it's "Tactical Espionage Action" where your goal is to rather than kill everyone, you need to hide from enemies, sneak around and find stuff and rescue people, your ultimate goal being to stop Fox Hound.

 mgmain
In the PSP incarnation of our most favorite game series, the gameplay is dramatically changed to a TURN-BASED strategy game...with turn moves, ability cards, etc...like PokeMon The card game on gameboy...sadly.
With new features, moves, and a brand new take on the storyline, this game is a "return to origin" of the Metal Gear genre.
I've played it, beaten it, and fallen in love with it.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Review from GameZone.com
This might ring a bell for Metal Gear fans, and there is a reason for that it is. This is Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, but with new game modes, hidden playable characters and some new storylines.
What make the game so strong are the graphical elements, and the way the game pulls players into the tension of the situation.
The game’s new features include 350 virtual reality missions and 150 alternative missions; five new Snake stories; as well as continuing the Sons of Liberty story while adding the Casting Theater and Boss Survival modes of play; and a skateboarding mode which allows players to explore the Big Shell as either Raiden or Snake.

 GameSpy: Metal Gear Acid Preview
As in any Metal Gear game, there's a convoluted plot involving terrorists and hijacking and all that crazy stuff.
For example, Metal Gear Ray shoots a hydro-laser that can decimate an entire column of squares, while Psycho Mantis can hypnotize any enemy in the level.
But Acid, as you might know, is unlike any other Metal Gear game to date.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Review at Next Level Gaming!
And let me tell you all something, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eaters is the BEST MGS game to date, and it very well be one of the best PS2 titles of 2004.
If you loved the first 2 Metal Gear Solid games, then Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eaters is a MUST for you.
The music also jams when the movies are playing (and there will be plenty of them).

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater takes players to a new time and place.
As always, it's best to have a clear head when playing a Metal Gear Solid game.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is about a year away, but some of you out there still haven't played the first one.
While Virtual Missions was a nice little bonus that helped up the ante of the whole package, you'll be playing this game for the main story mode.
Of course, when you port a game and don't do anything to update it, you'll port over all the flaws and inadequacies as well.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance Review for PS2 on GamePro.com
As one of the first mainstream titles to emphasize stealth over head-on conflict, MG gained notoriety for its unique gameplay engine and finely tuned enemy A.I. Solid upped the ante by taking things to the 3D world, and the PS2 sequel, Sons of Liberty, added more character abilities and techniques (plus an on-the-fly first-person view).
There's no denying the superb play engine that is Metal Gear.

ALL TALK, NO ACTION: Bad acting and slow action create little fun in 'Metal Gear Solid 3'
This is how you play "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater," a game whose bright spots are lost to fatal mixed messages and, well, plain old bad acting.

Yet with a recent GameCube version and a new game coming out for the Nintendo DS, it looks like leading man Snake has been reinvented too many times.
