Marvel vs. Capcom series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marvel vs. Capcom is a series of fighting games created by Capcom in which characters created by Marvel Comics and Capcom's own characters appear together.
However, various pairs of characters - typically one Marvel and one Capcom, were often partnered with each other during gameplay (although later games randomized the partnerships so that it was possible to complete the game facing all-Marvel or all-Capcom teams).
However, the Marvel fighting game Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects was initially named Marvel vs. EA, spawning lots of jokes from people about various EA licenses (such as John Madden) appearing in the game.

 Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Capcom vs. SNK plays like the Street Fighter Alpha series, and lacks the trance like special effects found in other "Vs." games, thus it is a more technical fighting game.
Some may argue it's Capcom vs. SNK 2, but seeing as how both games are so vastly different, I try to stay away from comparing both games.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 literally forces you to play the game over and over again, just so you can unlock a personal favorite character of yours.

Capcom - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Capcom (カプコン in Japanese) TYO: 9697 is a leading Japanese developer and publisher of computer and video games.
He originally appeared in the early Capcom Famicom/NES game Section Z (the arcade version of Section Z has similar gameplay, but it is not clear that the hero is the same person) and in the manuals of Capcom's early NES games to thank players for purchasing them.
Capcom's games and characters therein have been featured in a number of television cartoons and theatrical movies.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 Review PS2
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is huge, it boasts 56 fighters to choose from of which a vast majority of these have to be bought with points earned in the games points reward system.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is a fighting game no one should be without, for two very good reasons, firstly it's great over the top fun and secondly there is a great nostalgia value.
Marvel is much faster and much more fun to play due to the extreme moves and the Marvel characters.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Playstation 2) Review at RewiredMind.com
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is by far the pinnacle of the “VS” series of games, so find other players, find it in arcades, and let the crossover battle commence.
Shoryuken.com have hosted a number of huge gaming tournaments were MVC2 has always consistently been the focus, pulling in some 200-500+ players from across the world to stake it out to decide who is the strongest.
Before you know it, you've racked up thousands of points.  There's certainly a huge incentive to pursue the goal of unlocking everyone from the word go, since some of the hidden characters are the more impressive characters in the game, such as the huge Sentinel, or the Ironman, Tony Stark.

 Marvel vs. Capcom 2 -- PS2 -- Five Stars
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has deceptively simple controls, but don’t assume this game is merely a button masher.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 isn’t like any other fighting game on the planet.
I’m not saying that Capcom vs. SNK 2 isn’t a great game, because it is, but Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is flat out more fun to play and manages to appeal to just about everyone.

 MARVEL VS. CAPCOM
As the name suggests, this game pits a slew of super heroes from Marvel Comics' universe, against various heroes and fighters from Capcom's pantheon of games.
And for comic fans, seeing many of your favorites like Captain America or Venom in a game that plays really well (compared to all the other 'anime / comic licensed games') is enough incentive to buy this game.
CPS-II fighting game, with a few new home exclusive modes to boot, such as the requisite "Survival Mode," "Training Mode" and "Cross Fever" mode, which is a madness-filled 4 player(!) fighting fest, where you and three of your friends can battle it out in a huge free-for-all.

 Morrigan Aensland -
Despite this, the only times her sprite has been redrawn has been in Pocket Fighter, Puzzle Fighter and SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium due to everyone being super deformed; and Gunbird 2 due to the nature of the game (a shooter vice a fighting game).
Within the Darkstalkers series, she is considered a Shotoclone, with many of the same fighting techniques and controls as other Capcom shotokan characters, such as Ryu from Street Fighter.
Morrigan's role as a hero was a focus, with her activities as a succubus downplayed; although the OVA depicts Donovan Baine as the main hero of the story, some say that Morrigan was also a little more stoic and pretentious than her usually upbeat personality depicted in the games.

The game features some obscure characters that are fun to play as, that didn't really make it into many games before this one, such as Shuma Gorath.

The game plays mostly like a light hearted Street Fighter, so if you are very serious about you're fighting games and looking for a less cartooned and more serious atmosphere, then look elsewhere.

Mastery of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 comes only by wrapping your head around all of these disparate features and using that knowledge to try to establish some order in the game's rampant chaos.
Even so, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is undeniably the biggest and best game of its highly specialized type.
Wrapping a decent story around them would have been impossible, so the game is more of a "dream match" that just so happens to have a boss fight against Abyss tacked on at the end.

The Alpha series and Street Fighter III are popular in some circles, but the super moves of those games don't provide the same level of fun and excitement that the hyper combos of the Marvel vs. Capcom series do.
Capcom has also made some incomprehensibly bad Street Fighter games over the years.
My guess is that is that Marvel, who were on the brink of bankruptcy when they made their initial licensing deals with Capcom, wanted more money from the game developer after X-Men and Spider-Man made them millions.

Obviously the main draw to any Marvel videogame is the fact that players can get to take command of some of their favorite superheroes, mutant or otherwise, from comic book lore.
The Marvel vs. Capcom series brought some of my last moments of enjoyment from playing a 2D fighting game, but Electronic Arts looks to put a new spin on Marvel fighting titles with Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects.
EA and Nihilistic obviously has a tall task ahead of it as the previous Marvel based fighting game, Marvel vs. Capcom, was an exceptionally well done and vastly accepted piece of Marvel lineage.

PlanetDreamcast: Games - Reviews - Marvel vs. Capcom
Several years ago, Capcom decided to combine two of their hottest games, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and X-Men: Children of the Atom, and pumped it full of hyper speed, massive powers, insane combos, and a new twist to the fighting genre, tag-teams.
As I'm sure you're probably aware, Capcom innovated the tag-team for XMvSF and MvSF, allowing you to choose two characters to fight with and tag them in and out of play at any time.
Until now, if you wanted to play any of these games at home, you had to either settle for the dreadful Playstation ports or have the games imported from Japan for the Saturn, but no more.

The combination of these two styles gives the game a feel of its own, allowing players to recover from most bad situations as well as strategically confront their adversary.
Granted, Jam seems to be their answer to Capcom's Chun Li (Street Fighter II) or SEGA's Sarah Bryant (Virtua Fighter), her usage of rush attacks and application of her outfit's custom sleeves in her fighting style adds up to string combos that the others could only dream of.
Guilty Gear X also incorporates the ability to super jump (Hyper jump in Capcom Versus series) as well as mid-air dashes.

No Doubt about it, this has got to be up there with the best looking 2d games of all time.
Now some people may be quick to point out that fighting has moved into the 3d arena very well with Virtua Fighter, Tekken and Soul Calibur, 2d fighters are still attract a large following as the gameplay between a 2d and a 3d fighter is actually often very different.
