Magnetic Scrolls "story file"; its all you need in order to play a game, though without a.gfx file, you wont' see the artwork.
Kronos depends on Frotz and Magnetic for its compatability with the games.

To prevent software pirates from spreading their programs, Magnetic Scrolls added a password protection to most of their games.
Their games, sadly enough, have been unavailable for years, and your only choice may be downloading them from the Internet.
The title files should have the same name as the game file, except that the picture files must end in ".png" and the music files in ".mp3".

This may only be achieved by playing various stages of the game in different ways to discover who goes where to do what and why.

They supply all the goodies to go in the box and suggest alterations on the text (usually supplied by Magnetic Scrolls) to go into the manuals.
The realistic setting of Corruption is a pretty drastic departure from the fantasy world of Kerovnia and an even more innovative game is due to be released later this year.
Anita Sinclair is concerned that people should consider what the game is about before they buy it.

Anyone playing this game may want to visit the above site where there are viewable/downloadable copys of the stuff included in the JINXTER game when first released.
The above link has MAGNETIC on it, along with more info, AND the files needed to play the other MAGNETIC SCROLLS adventures.
I miss those days of opening an adventure game box and finding it full of strange and fun odds and ends.

And just as European artists and scientists of the Rennaissance were beginning to realize that it was possible to go beyond the achievements of the ancients, so we're beginning to see new IF that's in many ways better than the Infocom classics.
Your first task is to solve three mini puzzles of an "intermediate" toughness, then its onto the "large" portion of the game in the land where everyone is a fish.
SUPPORTS: See review of "Fish!" above AVAILABILITY: Commercial (see above) Ahhh, Magnetic Scrolls first illustrated text adventure and, like Infocoms first official game Zork, is just about as famous unless you lived in America in the the late 1980's of course, which is a pity.

I have been told that some of their games were available for the Amstrad PCW, but I don't know what titles.
They originally wrote adventure games with a very powerful (but sometimes unusually picky) parser, and very nice 16 color hi-res pictures.
They have also been involved in designing an RPG called The Legacy: Realm of Terror.

I tried Magnetic 0.8.1 with the game Pawn.
Another subtle issue is parsing the game to draw a map; you can't really do that; adventure games are not data files showing a list of rooms with joints in between..
I particularly liked the humor and that is very difficult to convey in the current point and click adventures (although "Grim Fandango" comes the closest that I have found - a very good game).

Even when you know what you're supposed to be doing don't hang about, because you've only got so long before the Fins' sabotage will succeed.
Well, if you're a keen adventurer you'll buy it anyway and I think that, on the whole, you'll enjoy the fishy goings on.
I noticed only one spelling mistake (in the hardware shop) and no fatal bugs at all (unlike the pub in Jinxter and the hospital in Corruption).

Kronos is a player for Infocom style ZMachine games, Magnetic Scrolls text+graphics adventures, and Scott Adams style adventures.
Scott Adams released all his as free to play; go get em.
I tried a Magnetic Scrolls game and Scott Adams game, though game shoudln't matter as it uses a single display engine for all of them..

The Pawn, their first game, was developed for the Sinclair QL, a then brand new computer which turned out to be a very bad flop.

Magnetic/Palm - Interactive Ficton for Palm OS Magnetic Scroll's was a UK based text adventure game company from the middle 1980's; their games helped kick off the adventure game genre by introducing high quality artwork, a fancy English-like parser and wonderful plots.

The problems, as with all Magnetic Scrolls games, are intriguing and range from easy to head-scratching.
I found Jinxter a most enjoyable game apart from one thing - the ending and so far, I haven't found anyone who HAS been satisfied by it.
They have brought out several games, all of which have been well received: The Pawn, Guild of Thieves, Jinxter, Corruption and Fish!

Probably the best role playing game released on the Amstrad - You must destroy the evil Mangar to succeed but the road to this is long and dangerous - many days of fun await!
Basically nearly all of the Infocom, Magnetic Scrolls or Level 9 games are very good and usually much better than the games available at present.
Yuppie insider dealing and power struggles make this probably the best Magnetic Scrolls game around.

CORRUPTION Walkthru CORRUPTION, by Magnetic Scrolls, is a surprisingly small and slightly less "political" game than many of their others.
Also, beware of hints regarding the end of the game, because an attempt has been made to mislead you.
(The person in California had not actually played the game and was working only from notes sent from Magnetic Scrolls in London.) What I'd neglected to do was read a couple of items in my latest save, and the game hadn't been "told" I knew about them.

I drooled when I saw the Magnetic Scrolls games on the Amiga when I went for the PC back in 1989 and couldn’t (then) afford an additional Amiga (those were really expensive back then!).

Most variations of a command are recognized and there are loads of abbreviations: L for LOOK, X for EXAMINE and so on.
Ever Magnetic Scrolls adventure gets praised to the skies, wins a thousand (or thereabouts) awards and gets an incredibly high mark in all the magazines.
You'd think they could produce a dud once in a while just for variety's sake (what do you mean, you can't imagine that — just use your brain will you?).

According to the people at Magnetic Scrolls in England, they judged this to be the only ending possible, since you were plucked from in front of the bus for the sole purpose of retrieving the bracelet and charms; they merely put you back where they found you.
Seems to me they could have given you more than a cheese sandwich.
