 BBC - h2g2 - Gary Gygax
Gygax claims he wrote the vast majority of DandD's rules while Dave Arneson contributed to the game's initial campaign settings (namely, Blackmoor, which was the first true role playing campaign).
These days Gygax is back writing a new paper RPG game called Lejendary.
After TSR, Gygax published a new RPG called Dangerous Journeys for Game Designers Workshop.

RPG World - Gary Gygax Interview
Gary: Well it is a rules-light, skill-bundled based system that is constructed so once you learn the rules basics all play is very easily and quickly managed, and you hardly ever have to crack the books, except maybe to see what the spells are doing to do or to get monster stats.
Gary: They are probably going to be in DandD since that is the only place I have really run adventures other than my own Legendary Adventure material.
I used to carry it around with me because it took about two hours to play through and it was really a lot of fun and quite challenging.

Welcome to Silver Bullet Comics! // THE source, nuff said! // Comics, Subscriptions, News, Previews, Reviews, Events, ...
Gygax is quite aware of the level of contribution he’s made to the gaming industry, and he takes the esteem bestowed upon him to heart.
Gygax acknowledges his playground as something that taps into a universal appeal; there are reasons why role-playing games have become firmly entrenched in pop culture, which he appreciates with genuine regard.
Gygax is half-joking; he tells the story of the first and last experience he’s had with the online gaming experience.

Gary: The LA game system is rules-light, uses a skill-bundle basis and offers players the opportunity to create virtually any sort of Avatar they desire.
Ignore the fact that I am sometimes referred to as the village idiot too:) The analogy to poker is apt, for what happens when that game is translated to the electronic media is similar to the transition of the game-mastered pen-and-paper RPG to the online format.
In creating a new game I believe firmly that there must be one controlling force, one mind, as it were, even of that refers to two or three persons with a shared vision.

Lejendary Adventure by Gary Gygax : Resources, Free Adventures, Forums, FAQ, and Errata
Gary Gygax intentionally created the system to allow maximum flexibility for the game master (aka Lejend Master) during game play—that means fewer, if any, breaks in the game session to look up complex combat rules or strange situational modifiers.
Gary will be DMing the final round of the OADandD tournament.

 Dragonchess - rules
The fact that pawns do not have an initial double move in Dragonchess probably is Gygax tribute to this ancient predecessor of chess as we know it; quite fitting for a game supposed to be played in a fantasy world, although players may find that this slows the game.
The old Gary Gygax website is no more...so the dragonchess program his site had (in my opinion FAR superior to the zillions of games version) cannot be downloaded there.
Interestingly, Gord, the hero of this fantasy story, (also appearing in other works of Gygax), plays some games of Dragonchess against a mysterious opponent.

The opportunity to devise new and interesting stories and situations for so many dedicated players is exciting to me, and I look forward to the challenge.
Of course, there's a lot of other games that are even better done in terms of roleplaying and telling stories (I'm thinking Nobilis, Silver Age Sentinels, Unknown Armies, etc) and smoother rules.

I don’t want to say too much about the specifics here because it is a classic Gygax/old-style adventure: lots of cool things for the player characters to push, pull, twist, solve, and stumble over.
