 Interplay 98 (Part 2) Interview
Feargus Urquhart: We are going to be releasing the game in the Fall and are on track to do that.
Feargus Urquhart: Well, one of the things that I think people should know about Baldur's Gate is that it is going to be a big game.
Feargus Urquhart: Interplay has its roots in role-playing games, and Brian Fargo has always wanted to start making them again.

[krypta 15] o jeden Fallout za daleko - Wywiady - Feargus Urquhart
Feargus Urquhart: I think the goal was to give players more of what they liked with Fallout.
Feargus Urquhart: We chose the time frame because we wanted to tell a new story, not just continue the story of the player's character from Fallout 1.
Feargus Urquhart: Well, we tried to force a certain structure with how plots moved forward in the game.

 GAMERS -> KOTOR 2 : sith lords
Feargus Urquhart: What we've done is allowed the player to tell the game through dialog, revealing some information about what happened during their play through of the first game, and some key things about Revan.
Feargus Urquhart: We're not talking about all of them yet, however, each of the companions is not only going to have very distinctly different personalities and roles to play in the story, they also each have special abilities that no other character can get.
Feargus Urquhart: There are a number of things that we've done to keep your other companions interesting throughout the game.

Interview with Feargus Urquhart, Designer of Fallout 2
FEARGUS URQUHART: I think the ideas for the game at the beginning is what made it feel different in the end.
FEARGUS URQUHART: I think it depends on what you are looking for in a game.
FEARGUS URQUHART: The first table top RPG that I played was Basic D&D in 7th grade (1982 or 1983), I was then playing AD&D (1st Edition) by 1984 or so.

 Fallout 2 Chat
<Feargus> Just that Fallout 2 is going to be an awesome game.
<Feargus> There is going to be a car that the player can get, but that is the only vehcile that they can control.
<Feargus> To be honest, I don't know about the Unwashed in the game, but I bet one of the designers put htem in there.

[krypta 15] o jeden Fallout za daleko - Wywiady - Feargus Urquhart
Feargus Urquhart : In my mind, it is all dependent on the games.
I would love to see us expand in to the online world with a massive multiplayer game, but that is really going to be up the finances of Titus and Interplay, and whether everyone in Black Isle wants to take that shot.
From our experience with him over the past few years, we know Feargus to be a friendly, knowledgeable, hands-on game maker with many interesting opinions.
http://free.of.pl/v/vault/rpgvault_2.htm

 Vault Network Mini-Interviews
Feargus Urquhart: There are probably hundreds of reasons, but I think the significant ones were hype, the license, and multi-player.
There was a HUGE amount of hype around Baldur's Gate that seemed to have a life of its own, and more people seemed to be inclined to want to know more about the game.
So, we are moving to a 3D engine where the same amount of artists that worked on Fallout 2 can create huge, diverse, and interesting game worlds.
http://rpgvaultarchive.ign.com/features/mini/feargus1.shtml

 .::ValhallaGamers.com::.
Feargus Urquhart : Since the first game was such a success, we had a pretty good feeling that people would be interested in a sequel.
We were a little worried that the changes we have made wouldn?t be seen as enough, but most everyone has said they think we are doing the right thing by keeping some things the same, refining other aspects and creating new features that fit well within the game.
Feargus Urquhart : Everyone has been really positive.

 PC: Neverwinter Nights 2
Urquhart: Players start out at first level, and we are playing around with a number of possibly crazy ideas when it comes to how they pick their class and alignment.
IGN.com's Tal Blevins was lucky enough to see the game and sit down with Feargus Urquhart himself and press him for more information on what may be the RPG event of 2006.
As for a level cap, there will be one for the single-player game, but that is mostly so that we can spend as much time as possible on all the spells and special character abilities for every class up to level 20 and make them the best they can be.
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/neverwinter-nights-ii/536369p1.html

 Vault Network Mini-Interviews
Feargus Urquhart: If the games are good then I don't do it as much, but I still do it sometimes.
Feargus Urquhart: We're all playing EQ right now (I've got a 6th level Dwarven Paladin), so it's something that we are all interested in.
While it consisted of only three questions, Feargus was very informative about what he has been up to recently, and with his opinions on the sales success of Baldur's Gate and on 2D versus 3D games.

DBZ Another Dimension - Yahooooo!!!!Es lebe Fallout 3!!!!!!!!!
[Urquhart, Feargus] I think the player having choices with the time to implement them make up the kind of combat that we try to put in our games.
[Urquhart, Feargus] Well it is possible that we are going to have to look into the whole DVD thing by the time a Fallout 3 would come out.
[Urquhart, Feargus] Speaking off the cuff - I think the world is going to be a little more advanced, but not a whole lot.

 The Dragon's Breath Forge - http://www.db-forge.com
Feargus: Actually with the available renewals in our current contract we can keep on making games until sometime in 2005 - at which point we have to stop starting new games, but can finish the games that we already have in development.
Feargus: Actually I haven't had the time to go through Throne of Bhaal yet.
Feargus: I'd like to make one, but it's just not in the cards right now.

Q&A: Feargus Urquhart, Part One - PC News at GameSpot
Feargus Urquhart: I can only speculate based upon what I have heard going around the Internet and third-hand.
But just because he's moved on doesn't mean that Urquhart can't look back.
When action is added then the numbers become less important, which means at some point the character development system becomes less important and the game starts feeling less like an RPG.

A Eulogy for Black Isle's Tragic End Gamers With Jobs
I cannot count the number of interviews with developers where developers like Warren Spector or Feargus Urquhart have repeatedly stated that it is the team as a whole that makes the game, not one man.
Fallout 3 was certainly being developed with its lineage as a template – perhaps one reason that action-focused Interplay lost interest - but clearly not with the talent that had originally made the former games great.
It's not just an issue of not having Cain or Urquhart, though that certainly plays a role.

 Futuremark - Printable News
Feargus Urquhart - There are a whole bunch of things that we are focusing on when it comes to gameplay, however the two areas that we are going to spend the most time on are companion control and the interface.
We want to have your companions not only react more intelligently in combat, but really have them play a part in the story of the game, much in the way party members affected the game in Baldur's Gate 2.
For the more hardcore D&D fan, we're bringing the game to the 3.5 edition rules, plus a whole lot more that we just can't talk about quite yet!

Feargus Urquhart - As it ways in Black Isle, we love making RPGs, so the games we will continue to make will most likely be either fairly hardcore RPGs or be games with an RPG slant.
We don't want to just pigeon hole ourselves into making only hardcore RPGs, so we are considering other types of games like First-Person shooters.

Sethmage, that's pretty much everyone's opinion, except for Feargus, so in that *one* respect, I am glad he isn't going to be helming the project.
If its true, guess there isn't going to be a Fallout 3.
Of course, now we may get some other complete idiot doing it, who isn't as good or competent as Feargus, but what are you going to do?

Dark Alliance is being developed by the relatively unknown Snowblind Studios in Bellvue, Washington, whose previous games were Top Gear Overdrive and Top Gear Hyperbike, automobile and motocross racing games for the Nintendo 64.
You play one of three characters: a female elven sorceress, a male dwarven fighter or a human male.

I know there are people out there that feel this ruins Fallout, but I think they will be surprised as to how well it works once they play it.
At some point, peole get sick of playing the same thing over and over again, which is all BIS is offering people these days.
It could have been with other rules, in another world, and it would have been equally good.

Q&A: Feargus Urquhart, Part Two - PC News at GameSpot
Feargus Urquhart: Interplay wants to focus on console titles and I don't think that the future of gaming is entirely on the console.
I enjoy developing games for both the console and the PC and abandoning one completely for the other is not a direction that I would like my career to go.
In the first part of his interview with GameSpot, renowned RPG creator Feargus Urquhart focused on the past--namely, the December 2003 closure of Black Isle Studios, the development house where he made his name.

Jonric: The three internal BIS products, Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale seem like pretty different types of games.
To what extent do you think there's a recognizable Black Isle style of RPG, and is it your goal to have a style?
Feargus Urquhart: It's funny, but while I think there is a recognizable Black Isle style - I'm not really sure what it is. I think some of it is attention to detail, some of it is the way we do dialogue, and the rest of it is our creative process.

I liked the regional deathclaws and the new armor.
(Feargus likes shotguns in his games, this I know from the rolemaster Cyberpunk game...
question for feargus: why did interplay approve fot even though many elements weren't consistent with the fallout universe, the deathclaws, lame d&d feel of some of the missions, the removal of most of the old weapons, and the general feel, etc.

 eMule Releases Brasil
The next major staff departure was last month when JE Sawyer, an icon from Black Isles, quit and then not shortly after it was announced that Black Isle was no more and all games were shelved including Fallout 3, the mystery game in production.
However the Baldur's Gate license belongs to Interplay's Black Isle Studios and they went ahead to create a console game called Dark Alliance based on the franchise, while canceling a promising RPG game called TORN that had been long in development.
Then earlier this year, Black Isle's president Feargus Urquhart, left the company to start his own endeavor called Obsidian Entertainment in partnership with BioWare, though no games have yet been announced.
