 Gameblog: Dvonn
Dvonn is probably more fun when playing against more experienced player than Zèrtz, where a skill gap can ruin the game a bit.
The games are close to perfection, when it comes to modern abstract board games: the rules are simple, yet the games are deep.
In Dvonn, players jump with their pieces, forming larger and larger stacks.

Rules for Dvonn and Zertz, brief
There are three red Dvonn pieces that control the "continents" of the board, 23 black pieces for one player, and 23 white pieces for the other player.
Dvonn is played on a board of 49 spaces, linked hexagonally.
A stack of four pieces with a black piece on top means that the stack can move to the fourth spot in any direction if that spot has piece(s) on it.

 Dvonner
Dvonn is an abstract two person strategy game, which is very diversified and sophisticated and nevertheless played fast and fluently.
Dvonner ist a computer programm written by me, which is playing Dvonn at a level that is even challenging for a good human Dvonn player.
If you like to play Dvonn online against human opponents, you can do this in the Brettspielwelt, where Dvonn is offered beside many other online board games.

 Gipf Review
Dvonn is a familiar game of connection and territory.
Dvonn has many of the characteristics of all the Gipf games (much more on this soon), with structures that are more traditional (making towers and gaining territory).
I found Dvonn immediately appealing and engaging, perhaps because of all the games in the Gipf Project, it entails the most familiar game playing concepts.

 Dvertz Rules
The Dvonn move is exactly as it is played in Dvonn.
In the second phase, each move by a player consists of two parts: the Dvonn move and the Zertz-like move.
Lastly, if a player has no Dvonn move, they must still make their normal Zertz-like move (jumping or placing) each turn.

 Hva mener BSG-panelet?
All 3 DVONN pieces remain in play until the end of the game, even if one of them becomes isolated, as it will always remain in contact with itself.
A single DVONN piece may not be moved, but a piece or stack may move on top of it.
Check where he can go to with the DVONN piece and how many of your pieces will have to be removed if he moves it.

 House Full of Games: DVONN
DVONN is an abstract game played on an elongated board that resembles a patch of sand.
Stacks must be linked to the red DVONN pieces or they are out of the game.
Once all of the pieces have been placed, players begin stacking pieces in an effort to out-maneuver and out-score their opponent.

Conversation from Tokyo: We played Dvonn
We played once but I forced upon him a positive appraisal, stating how nice this game is, how bright he is to play it when the average Dvonn player must be way past adolescence.
The dynamic of Dvonn, where severed vital links may throw all of a sudden out of the sand beach like board a bunch of holed bakelite circles, this dynamic is esthetically satisfying.

The latest example of this was at the World Championship of GIPF and DVONN that took place at the Games Spectacular fair in Eindhoven, Holland recently.
I was lucky that I was able to go, and had a wonderful 2 days playing first GIPF and then DVONN for lots of hours.
It’s a game that once we find a used copy for one of our customers, it’s sold immediately.

 BGG Thread: Best GIPF Titles
After about 20 games I got him to try Dvonn (with the correct rules) which improved the game in my opinion but still just didn't seem magical like Yinsh or like Chess did when I was 7 years old.
I am surprised that Yinsh is ranked 20+ places above DVONN when Dvonn and Zertz are the far better games IMHO.
I picked up Dvonn at the Wizards of the Coast close out, played it (incorrectly) and figured everyone was crazy as I was completely unimpressed.
