In the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game, Greyhawk, also known as the World of Greyhawk, is one of the game's oldest campaign settings.

The result was that a product which should be on every Greyhawk gamer's shelf (the history) -- and could have been for $5-7 -- is not possessed by many players because they (rightly) didn't want to spend the money on the game as well.
I eventually gave up and decided that I would instead learn the subtleties of Greyhawk in which to better prepared for surprise teleportations of group of players who suddenly decided they wanted to see what was in the Jungles of Chult or the Valley of the Mage or...
I had very little faith that after making such a big cheat as they did with Greyhawk Castle that TSR could even recover some of my respect.

 Living Greyhawk: Theocracy of the Pale
This mini-scenario and Here There Be Dragons refer to places and events in the LG series "Windows to the Serpent's Soul." It is not required that the players be familiar or play that series, but doing so may add some enjoyment and continuity to the Special and this lead-in.

I wonder how true to the original castle it is (did the designers run thru the orignal game with Garry) or is it made from scratch.
I'd say it's like Undermountain for the Realms, a big dungeon all laid out and detailed for the DM, but he has to invent the reason for the PC's to go there and what the point of it all is.
Maybe someday, if the money is worthwhile enough for them to make it a serious project, they will do it.

Most likely it will not threaten Greyhawk if it is as intelligent as dragons are supposed to be, but there is no telling what it may do if rage at losing its treasure blinds it to the dangers.
Incidentally, the expedition was a complete success: we recovered all three of the artifacts and escaped without serious injury, even though we had to go through all five healing potions.

You need to set the expectations for the campaign when you gen chars or you are going to get hosed at some point.
I think WG 7 is a good litmus test to see if someone is an olde schoole Greyhawk fan.
I gave it a ten keeping in mind that it stands alone in its play type.

Carl Sargent did what he could to reverse that in From The Ashes, and the LGG Team obviously decided that, rather than declaring a flawed version of GH as canon, they'd rather not cover it at all.
In EGG's upcoming Castle Greyhawk adaption (forgot the name, he isn't allowed to call it Greyhawk) there will probably be some additional info on the "real" Gh.
If you read the Gord the Rogue novels, you get an idea of what greyhawk should have looked like.

 Erac's Cousin
In the original Greyhawk campaign, the fighter/magic-user know as Erac's Cousin (played by Ernie Gygax) managed to acquire two powerful vorpal swords.
So with both Gary and Rob Co-DMing, Erac's Cousin and the 9th level fighter Ayelerach (played by Mark Ratner) entered the dungeons beneath Castle Greyhawk.
Both Gary and Rob decided that his character had become way too powerful, especially considering the fact that he possessed the ability to use both weapons at the same time.
