Bill Wall's Chess Master Profiles - Capablanca
Capablanca played over 700 tournament games winning over 71 percent of the time.
Capablanca proposed a new chess variant, played on a 10x10 board or a 10x8 board.
Up to this time, Capablanca had only lost 4 games of the 158 match and tournament games he had played since 1914.

 1921 World Championship Match
Capablanca is, of course, one of the strongest players in the history of the game, who has more legends about him than a politician has no-comments.
Capablanca disputed several of Lasker's conditions, including time limit, the stakes, the short playing time, the 30 game limit, and especially the requirement that the Challenger must win by 2 points to win the title.
Capablanca and Lasker remained at odds for several years, not speaking to each other, until they kissed and made up (metaphorically speaking, of course) at the closing ceremony of the 1914 Saint Petersburg tournament.

Chessville - Chess Variants - Gothic Chess: An Introduction - by Ed Trice
Capablanca won the first game in 94 moves, and drew the second game in 82 moves.
It turns out that with a minor correction to the Capablanca setup, the result is an 80-square version of the game that is balanced, harmonious, and contains many themes and tabias already familiar to the modern chess player.
A small group of players from Philadelphia were experimenting with 80-square variants, attempting to rediscover Capablanca’s chess.

 Chess Archaeology
Such was the case for Capablanca, a player who engaged in a multitude of simultaneous performances.
No doubt whoever was looking for Capablanca games originally felt it unnecessary to examine the January 1923 roll of Cleveland Plain Dealer microfilm, as all the games of local “interest” were already accounted for, and weeks had passed by since the December 12, 1922, exhibition had taken place.
Typographical errors in the game scores plagued the first columns of the Cleveland Leader’s new “Chess and Checkers” column, and it was not until two weeks later that the correct score of Newcomb’s draw, as well as the draw by W. Greer, were finally given in understandable form to the public.
