Baldur's Gate series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Baldurs Gate Mods - At the Mod DB The Gibberlings Three
Although they take place in the Baldur's Gate rendition of the Forgotten Realms setting, they are not often regarded as a part of the Baldur's Gate series, as the plot is unrelated to previous games, and they were console-exclusive titles - never released for Windows and Macintosh as the original games in the series were.
Baldur's Gate is a popular series of computer role-playing games that take place on Faerûn, the main continent from Dungeons and Dragons's Forgotten Realms campaign setting, set in the years following the cataclysmic Time of Troubles (1358 DR).

Baldur's Gate for PC Review - PC Baldur's Gate Review
Baldur's Gate is, of course, also the first fairly hard-core RPG that you can play multiplayer, either over the Internet (Gamespy is included with the game, or you can play it over the Heat network) or using a more local connection.
Interestingly, although Baldur's Gate is a party-based game, the storyline is based around a single main character, even in the multiplayer version of the game.
Baldur's Gate deftly avoids that design trap and is perhaps the first game to implement a chapter structure and yet still grant you tremendous freedom to explore the gaming world in a very nonlinear fashion with a party composed of members chosen by you.

Get Baldur's gate 2 instead, the best roleplaying game there is, which is also more of a thinker game and has more of a plot, as opposed to the hack and slash style of play that Icewind Dale employs.
I don't own Baldur's Gate 2 yet but this game is a nice indifferent change from BG but keeping within the realms of the forgotten world.
It's brilliant, although slightly harder then Baldur's Gate in the early levels, this can be overcome be spending time setting up good characters at the start which is well worth it in the end and enables enjoyable gameplay.

While some will recognise some of the music from the previous Baldur's Gate games, this is in no way a bad thing as the music is very well composed and captures the mood of the game precisely.
Although it picks up from where Dark Alliance left off, it is still an ideal game for players who are new to the Baldurs Gate collective.
Definitely an all time great, for newcomers and for those who have played previous Baldur's Gate games.

Amazon.co.uk: Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance II (PS2): PC & Video Games
Baldur's Gate II is addictive mostly by the willingness to buy that next weapons upgrade to see the damage and to see what the higher spell will do when you've gained that bit more experience from seeing to another enemy.
Despite the Baldur's Gate name Dark Alliance II, with its real-time combat and simplified stats and rules, is more Gauntlet (or Diablo if you're too young to recognise that reference) than the Baldur's Gate PC games.
This is not to imply that it's a simplistic button-basher, though; the combat is highly involved, with different styles of melee, distance and magic attacks depending on which character you choose to control.

Not really, all of the GTAs were fun, it's only the two most recent that made any sort of impact, the first few were like, "cult classics" of video games.
These three choices are all based on my overall enjoyment with each game, I can probably pick far better ones that I personally enjoy, but these come to mind first.

Diablo II has a lot more buying power, whereas the Baldurs Gate series is considered a much deeper Role Playing Game experience.
Looking at the press release details and screenshots without actually playing the game may sound like I'm being a bit too sure of myself, but if Baldurs Gate II is anything like Baldurs Gate one and expansion pack, I'm sure it will be on my harddrive for a very long time to come.
Enemies look a little better and the detail put in has improved enough to be noticed which is more than it seems to be, as this game was hard to beat Baldur's Gate.

Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal is a fitting completion to the Baldur's Gate "trilogy," but was slightly disappointing to this reviewer due to the shorter amount of playing time available for the main game itself (around 25-30 hours).
The new addition is a hack that installs rules for all the way up to level 50, so you can play the game right for the next 100 years or so.

The linear nature of the gameplay, which stems from an emphasis on storytelling narrative is contrary to the more traditionally open-ended style of play popularized by the Ultima series.
Everything from the characters and objects to the machinery in Septerra Core are drawn with a very stylistic look; the women and men in the game have the bizarre hair colors and unique clothing that one would expect from an anime series.
The welcomest adaptation, however, is also what separates Septerra Core from perhaps 99% of all other games made today.
